King Lear Quote Analysis.

King lear adresses’s the crowd with is opening sentence “does any here know me” he is asking this question as he is confuse and he is not sure what is going on and his mind is playing tricks on him. He then says “why, this is not lear” he is realising that he has changed and he is not his old self. He then proves that he is going mad when he says “Either his notion weakens or his discerings  are lethargied” this shows he is going mad and his thoughts are confusing him. He then finishes by asking who can tell him who he really is, this is showing he is desperate and he wants to know what has happend to what he used to be. Overall Lear is very distressed and confused how he has changed so much, he also talks about himself in the third person as he feels he is an entirely different man to the old king lear.

English Reflection

So far this year I have enjoyed my English lessons; we have mainly being looking at Tragic Drama, which I find interesting. I particularly enjoyed the harkness discussion we did as I thought I was a good discussion and I participated well in the discussion. We also have looked Oedipus the king and the poem London which we did a descriptive piece of writing which I didn’t particularly enjoy as I am not good at descriptive writing and find it hard to write to a high quality. We are looking at the play king Lear at the moment which I am not enjoying that much as I struggle to understand what is going on sometimes. Overall I have enjoyed my first four weeks of fourth form English, the preps have been fine and I have enjoyed classwork.
